Or Goofy String, whatever you call it. But is it harmful? I just had a block party and the stupid neighbors were spraying it everywhere. My friends and I tried to clean it up. We could feel the chemicals after holding it in our hands. It was all over the sidewalk, driveways, street, and grass.

  1. yes, its forbidden in some countries. it harms the ozone layer cause some thing evaporates. it can cause you a frostbite.

  2. Most definately.  I have no idea what the string itself is made of, but i'm sure the propellent is environmentally harmful.

  3. Yes, silly string is full of chemicals (plastics) and freon as the propelent.

It's also very flamable, and caution should always be used when playing with it near flames.

Usually I would be completely against a "toy" like Silly String...just not a good "toy" for children or adults.  However I will NEVER sign a pettition, nor speak against Silly String.  Silly String saves the lives of countless soldiers!!!  The soldiers can spray Silly String into a room, or where-ever they suspect a trip-wire might be.  The Silly String is ultra light weight, and lays accross the wire, making it highly visible, preventing soldiers from walking into boobie traps.

So, in general, yes Silly String is not a good "toy"...too many chemicals.  However please do not EVER as for a ban on Silly String!  The stuff actually saves lives!
