After the whole Wayne Rooney episode in Manchester United, it was seen that the English star wanted more extraordinary players in his side.
It wasn’t a bad move at all as it was clearly seen that the Red Devils did not really buy an expensive player since the past few years and now, with the team getting old – especially the goalkeeper Van der Saar and the midfielder Paul Scholes and the winger
Ryan Giggs, the need for new players feels dire.
The club’s owners have finally agreed to give Manchester United the funds that they require to sign new players. However, it was clearly seen this summer that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is definitely not the best buyer around. The Scotsman
can definitely not buy the best talent that is available, in fact he believes in buying raw talent from the market to make them stars himself. However, he does not have much time left in Manchester United and he cannot wait another 4-5 years to create another
extraordinary batch of players.
It is true that the Mexican “kid” Javier Hernandez is doing wonders up front but the youngster is definitely not as good as any of the strikers that the club has created in the past. Strikers like Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Solskjaer or even Wayne Rooney who was
in extraordinary form last season.
Considering the fact that “Fergie” has created players like David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo during his stay at Manchester United, there is definitely no doubt that he has even bought the worst stars and if we give a quick look to Ferguson’s worst signing
of all time, they are definitely going to exceed the number of “good” singings that he has managed to make.
The goalkeeper Massimo Taibi who was bought to replace the legendary Peter Schmeichel was simply a bad choice. Not only was he the worst goalkeeper signed by Ferguson, in fact he could be the worst goalkeeper who played in the Manchester United team. Another
player Kleberson was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson alongside Cristiano Ronaldo but both the youngsters managed to go on different paths. With Ronaldo touching extraordinary heights on the right wing it was Kleberson who could not really touch the same form that
he had during the FIFA World Cup 2002, while playing for the Brazilian side.
Eric Djemba-Djemba, David Bellion and Juan Sebastian Veron are other examples of bad Alex Ferguson signings as all these players could not work while being a part of the Red Devils. Veron was a sensational midfielder in his former club and he was expected
to do wonders with Manchester United but the Argentinean could not really deliver just like the Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan who is now a sensational striker but was a total flop while playing in the red jersey.
Alan Smith was another flop signing along with the Brazilian holding midfielder Anderson who is still performing for Manchester United and each and every fan sitting in Old Trafford knows that Anderson is not the best that United have and Michael Carrick
is definitely someone who can replace Anderson in the midfield along with Darren Fletcher who is already a regular in Ferguson’s team.
Another signing that can be considered as one of the worst and most expensive signing made by Sir Alex Ferguson is Dimitar Berbatov. It is true that he scores in some matches and he even managed to score a hat-trick against Liverpool while playing at the
Old Trafford and also scored 5 goals against Blackburn Rovers. Everyone simply saw how those goals came for him – deflections and some were not even meant to be his, it was clearly his night.
Now with Sir Alex Ferguson having cash in his pocket and moving out in the market, can he really buy the best that is available? Bastian Schweinsteiger is under the Manchester United radar and his arrival in the team is definitely going to be strong but
is the Scottish tactician going to sign the German midfielder or not? Well, only time can tell.
