Is the Snake Pliskin from the Metal Gear video games related to the Kurt Russel character of the same name in Escape from New York/LA in any way?

There is no character in Metal Gear named "Snake Pliskin".  Solid Snake of Metal Gear fame once used the alias Iroquois Pliskin, as an homage to Kurt Russel's character, S.D. Robert (Bob) "Snake" Plissken, in the "Escape" movies.

If any relationship exists, Snake Plissken served as one of multiple inspirations for the creation of the Solid Snake character.

I don't know about metal gear but Kurt Russell played the original Snake Pliskin in Escape from NY.
