Is Social influence the difference between Caucus and Primary?

In Caucus you can't keep your voting intentions private from lets say your employer or neighbor, whereas in Primary you get to vote your true intentions.

Basically in todays socially manipulative enironment I think Caucuses are not very constructive to our society.

For instance, the job market is tough today, for the most part people are doing what ever it takes to please their employer.

  2. Technically a "caucus" just means any group of like-minded people, and I don't know why states like Iowa bother to use it when insincerity can arise from it. I've noticed that most of the states that maintain it are the more rural, Midwestern ones- Idaho, Alaska, etc. Maybe it is a strategic thing to ensure uniform voting- Idaho is 80% Republican and while I am a Republican and wouldn't wan to bash the party, it may have interfered back in the '70's when primaries first took off so as to act as a means of strategic social pressure. Or maybe I'm too cynical...
