Is Sri Lanka safe to visit?

my family and i are planning a trip for 6 weeks to sri lanka. i know there's a civil war going on there, and all the bombings in colombo... and that's where we're planning to stay. colombo. we've been there before, and were perfectly fine, but i heard the situation's gotten worse. so is it generally safe? thanks...

of course it is now the war is over, many tourists are coming each month. its a great place to visit it offers u beautiful beaches, blue ocean, historic places, national parks and great hospitality too believe me u won't be dissapointed
