Is St. Catherine street in Montreal near Old Montreal?

Question

I'm going to Montreal and Quebec city with my school. And I want to go to St. Catherine street, but we're only going to Old Montreal.

How close, walking distance would it be?

And do you think I would be able to 'get lost' and wonder over to it?

I've never been to Quebec, so I have no idea where anything is.

- I speak french, so will have no problem asking for directions if it's a longish walk.

If you're on st-cathrine (downtown area) just walk south lol. you'll hit old montreal before hitting water :P . You'll notice stone roads.enjoy!

It is very close. I walk it all the time. You can ask for directions once you are there. It is very safe too, but you should take an adult with you to avoid getting lost from your group. Have a nice trip to Montreal!

If you are going for the shopping, once you get to Ste Catherine street, walk west (your left once you get to the street). Depending on where you were first in the Old Montreal, you might have to walk two or three blocks. If you were too far east you might have to walk up to 6 blocks to get to the malls but Montreal blocks are short anyway. If you are going for something else, you have to be specific when asking for directions, since this is one of the longest streets in Canada, and probably in the world.

Don't pay too much attention to me anyway, just ask for directions once you are here :P

You are not far at all...........Just a 10 or 15 minute walk from Old Montreal to St. Catherine street............Enjoy the city!!!!!!!!!!!

You can walk it, don't worry!

I've done it myself more than once and I'm hardly the fittest person on the planet - trust me!

By the way, why is your class only visiting the Old Montreal when there is so much more to see and enjoy?

One more thing... Is there anything specific you want to check out on Sainte-Catherine Street -  besides the shopping malls?

And are you allowed to wander off from the group on your own like that in a strange city?
