In light of the recent earthquake here, I would like to know if Stanford and other California are earthquake safe. Stanford was established in 1891, so would the oldest buildings (the quad) be safe ina powerful earthquake? If not, should they work to fix up these old structures? I mean, Stanford's endwoment is definatly large engouh to do so.

  1. I think you should stop worrying

Stanford's campus is so sprawled out, there's no way all of it would crumble.

  2. all buildings in california are built to modern earthquake spceifications. all houses and business are wood structures, even the concrete and steel skyscrapers in downtown L.A are built to withstand a strong(to some extent) earthquake.
