Question:

Is Stratford Career Institute better than nothing at all?

I have an Accounting diploma from Stratford Career Institute, 1 year experience as marketing coordinator, and 1 year experience as office operations manager.

I have about 6 months before I start looking for another job, is it worth it for me to get another SCI diploma in Business Management or is it better to have nothing else?

How do employers look at SCI diplomas (as it is an unaccredited school)?

P.S. I do not want to go to college.

  1. Certification and knowledge are BOTH power. You were wise to learn accounting--many times I got or kept jobs because only I had as much as one semester of Accounting. Look for startups, too--you may be able to get their whole bookkeeping system on track, which would open many doors. Business Management may be OK, but it depends on what courses you take. At that, there are other places to search--Strayer, ECPI, Everest, and you need to find an accredited school for Management.

  2. I don't have an answer for you but I've often wondered the same thing so thanks for asking this question. I'd love to know which SCI type school is the better choice as I'm not sure any of them are accreditted and I'd hate to spend the money if the diplomas from there aren't accepted. Here's a star

  3. Furthering your education is ALWAYS a good idea. There is never any harm in adding to your education. I've always heard that Startford Career Insittute courses are good and been very helpful for people looking to change careers or get ahead in a specific career. Any additional experience/education you can add to your resume is almost always helpfu. Potential employers can see that you are working to continue to educate yourself. Best of luck to you in your job search and career aspirations!
