Question:

Is Switched on School House a good curriculum?

I am wanting to try a computer based curriculum for my 5th grader.Is this a good one and how do you keep records for a portfolio rewiew if needed?Do you print out end of chapter test or does it grade you child and give you some sort of printable record?Any information would be greatly appreciated.

  1. I used Switched on School House in the 4th grade. Let's just say I didn't learn a thing. My mom put me in public school the next year and I was placed in the 4th grade again. It's not that great. Abeka is a good program though. I used it before too.


  2. My sister and I did that curriculm for science and SS of a year...you might as well send your kid to Public School. We learned basically nothing, it wasnt fun and was far too simple. Abeka is a wonderful program! They have a great video program, the 6th grade History lessons that my sister had were so amazing I ( several years older than my sister) looked forward to watching her lessons! Plus the teachers are great!

  3. Switched on Schoolhouse gives you the basics. You need to add critical thinking activities to make it more well rounded. You will also need to add literature to the Language Arts as they don't have the students read enough full length books. You take the tests on the computer, and then it grades the work. You can print the records if you'd like.
