  1. I just spent some time in Geneva, Switzerland, and it is one of the most multicultural cities in the world. Part of it because of the United Nations headquarters there and many other buildings that are home to the many agencies that represent the UN. There are so many cultures represented here and the atmosphere is very diverse and respectful. So if you are thinking about a multicultural place in Switzerland, definitely go to Geneva.

  2. More than half of the Swiss population are xenophobic, according to a survey designed to allow the country to compare itself with the rest of Europe.

You are living in the far most multicultural country of Europe. If you want something more multicultural you should leave Europe, because Europe has its own culture and like this it must stay. :)

  3. I'm German and Swiss and I suspect that many Swiss are more racist than the Germans or other nationalities. But its not the same kind of racism with which you have to deal with in Germany - Swiss are more patriotic than Germans for example. Don't misunderstand my sentences - Swiss are nice and friendly usually but they are very concerned if they have to deal with foreigners- especially foreigners (from former Yugoslavia or Turkey and they do not really like the Germans). I already did it to make it easier but I have to correct - you can't they the Swiss or the Germans or whatever- I shouldn't generalize- because people are very different....

The SVP is a right-wing party which causes a lot of racism here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_Peopl...

Nevertheless - go to Switzerland and you will find many open-minded people ..... give us a chance....

  4. Yes and no. You will find quite a variety of people there from various cultures and locales. However, the German Swiss especially are a bit xenophobic of what they call "Ausländer" (literally, "outlanders," or foreigners). The French and the Italian Swiss are a bit more laid-back about this. I suppose it really depends on which part of Switzerland you are thinking about heading to.

  5. Racists you can find all over the world, but when you get the chance for going to Switzerland, then do this!
