  1. Nope.

And I am VERY surprised to see people saying that they have agreed and will be, soon.  NOT like their politics!  I never thought I would see the day!

  2. Switzerland, at the moment, is not included in the Schengen Area. However, Switzerland has agreed to and signed the EU Schengen Treaty and will become part of the Schengen zone later this year. Probably November 2008.

  3. No. Switzerland is not part of the Schengen area.

However, Switzerland will join the Schengen area by 1st November 2008.

  4. Right now, Switzerland is not covered by a Schengen Visa.

The Switzerland government has signed the Schengen Agreement and after a plebiscite decision, Switzerland is in process to implement the required systems based on the agreement.

It is planned to implement the termination of passport controls at the boarders to Austria, Germany, France and Italy, and the issue of Schengen visa by Switzerland consulates as of 5th or 6th December 2008, depending on approval by the European Council.

The implementation at the Swiss Airports is planned for the 29th of  March 2009.

Since Switzerland is neither a member of the European Union nor of the European Union Customs Union, the Swiss boarders will remain manned by custom's officers. Boarder crossers are still subject to be checked for being within the limits of tax and duty-free allowances for travellers.
