Question:

Is Tampa Bay the favorite to win the Cup next year?

They really stacked up this year, with talent and role players. Last year, the Flyers went from last in the league to the ECF. I can see Tampa doing that this year.

  1. If you can see that, then you're the only one..... I doubt if they are even the favorite in Florida. Get real. The Wings will repeat barring multiple injuries...or global warming in the Joe.

  2. Doubt it... No defenseman, no goalie.  Well maybe Mike Smith will be decent, but I think even Superman would have a hard time with Tampa's defense in front of him.

They shouldn't have problems scoring, but we all know Cups are won by defense and goaltending.

  3. Uh, did you see who they have on defense?  In goal?  I highly doubt that they'll make it to the Conference finals.

  4. Without the backup of a good goaltender, I'm going to say no. In addition, they may have a lot of good potential stacked up on their team with the signings of some good players; however, it's easy to buy a team of successful players, but will they have the chemistry together to achieve success?

Look at the Yankees and the New York Rangers---- now tell me if you think chemistry can be bought?

Not at all look at where they are rated here...not to far from the bottom of the pile where they ended last year!!!

  6. No i dont even see them getting to the confrence finals let alone the cup. They will be good but i dont think they will be a Cup favorite.

  7. They'd need more than just a good goalie to become the favorite.

  8. chemistry 101 ain't just a freshman college course.

  9. they need a good goalie

  10. 2nd round at the most;  3rd if they get a goalie.

  11. nopee sorry to say but it's probably going to be a team from the west that wins the cup again..i think the sharks, stars, ducks, or red wings would be the most favored to win the cup..& the penguins too. those would be my top 5 that i would pick to win the cup.

  12. wow I really hope this is a joke question or that is really sad! they could possibly win the cup! but no way in the bluest of blue h**l would they be favoured to win it!

  13. Philadelphia did that, because they improved hugely in net, and also on offense and on defense.  Tampa, even though they may score the most goals in the league, maybe even in excess of 4 goals per game, without a good goaltender and good defense, will probably make the playoffs but not go far.

  14. This isn't a very hard answer--NO.

In case you didn't hear, the Detroit Red Wings WON the cup, and didn't exactly become a WORSE team when they picked up Marian Hossa.

Among plenty of other things, the Lightning don't even have a goalie.

  15. Uhh......ever hear of them Detroit Red Wings?

  16. NO they suk

  17. i dont think so, the caps have a better chance they are pretty stacked offensively themselves.  I watch karl alzner yesterday at camp he looks pretty good D is comin up

  18. No, sure they have added some players and will be better.

They have not really addressed their problems on defense or in goal.  If you look at the last 2 cup champs Ducks and wings, what did they have in common.  A great defense, until Tampa addresses their defensive woes they will not be a cup favorite.  Improved, yes but cup favorite- so far it looks like Det is still the front runner.

  19. No, they don't have even have good defensemen in addition a suspect goalie tandem.  Besdies they aren't the favorites in the east.  You have Pittsburgh, Montreal, New Jersey,  I would even say Washington and Boston are ahead of them and that is only the east.  The west there are the red wings, stars, ducks, sharks, and before anyone in the west gets upset I am not putting them in any particular order.  So short answer to the question no but could they make the playoffs sure.

  20. With Defense piar like this?

    Carle- Ranger

    OBrien- Kuba

    Picard- Lundin

    And goalies?

    Smith

    Kolzig

Coach... Barry Melrose 79-101-29 with Gretzky

    Highly unlikely!

  21. Not until they get a goalie.

  22. Really? I can't maybe they will make the first round AT BEST, but even that is a stretch.

  23. Since you question is if they are "the favorite to win" the answer would clearly be no. Yes the Flyers went from last to ... much better, but did anyone say they were "the favorite" before the season started? No,

  24. eh i dunno if it will happen yet just because they don't have a strong enough defense and a goalie who is still learning so give it a few years before that happens
