taraweeh is an innovation,such is your knowledge about taraweeh,that you dont know , how many rakahs are there ! total confusion,no one has the exact answer to this question.

some say 8

some say 12

some say 20

come on people ,know your religion,it is very simple and clear... despite 60+ volumes of hadith books,none explains rakahs in taraweeh ,let alone compulsory salat !

arent hadith books suppose to explain Glorious Quran !!!!

Tarawih are supererogatory prayers: they are strongly recommended and are Sunnah, not Wajib. For a man Praying in congregation in the mosque is better than praying at home There is no specific number of rak’ahs for Taraaweeh prayer, rather it is permissible to do a little or a lot either 8 to 20 or even more If someone wants to pray 20 rak'ah, s/he can definitely do so and should not be stopped. Ramadan is a month of remembrance of Allah so whoever wants to pray more s/he can do it.

Taraweeh prayer is prayed the same as Fajr prayer, prayed 2 rakahs by 2 rakahs, for example you start with Isha Salaah:

4 Sunnat

4 Farz

2 Sunnat

2 Nafl

2 rakat  (This is taraweeh)

2 Rakat (This is taraweeh)

2 rakat  (This is taraweeh)

2 Rakat (This is taraweeh)

2 rakat  (This is taraweeh)

2 Rakat (This is taraweeh)

2 rakat  (This is taraweeh)

2 Rakat (This is taraweeh)

2 rakat  (This is taraweeh)

2 Rakat (This is taraweeh)

But what is more important is to listen more and more Quran. Just completing certain number of rakaat is not the objective of taraweeh

you pray two rakat and you salim. then two more. people say you can do 8-20. but at the mosque we do 8 then 3 more last rakat.
