Is Television a Time Waster?

Question

I'm doing a speech and I need to know why TV is a time waster.

tv isnt always a time waster...but it can if u become addicted to it.  it can be useful in many aspects...like knowing whats going on in this world...or watching sports..or somthing like that...but usualy when your watching your favorite show...it ends and then you want to keep watching somthing else...and keep going and going...so it realy depends on the person...how they can arrange their times or control what they see

Next time a friend comes over for a visit, pay attention to how much time you each spend looking at the other if there is a tv on in the same room. If its on you cant look at anything else for any amount of time. And there's always something to watch "for a few more minutes before I go off and do something important". Then, woosh, the day has disappeared.

Going back tto my first point, babies have the same effect. If there's a baby in the room its almost impossible to not watch it. Strange!
