Is The Blues Brothers a funny movie even though Dan Aykroyd is in it?

I've avoided watching The Blues Brothers all of these years, figuring that with Aykroyd in it is an unfunny mess. However, I keep hearing from peoplet that I should give it a shot in spite of Hackroyd's prominent role in the film. What say you?

  1. I'm really not a movie or TV person, but I thought it was entertaining.  The comedy and music is worth the watch.  Try it....you might like it.

  2. Oh my God, its hilarious. Belushi and Akroyd are great together.

Here is the plot, if you didn't know what it was about.

Jake Blues, just out from prison, puts together his old band to save the Catholic home where he and brother Elwood were raised.

  3. i think he is the best in this movie..I'm like you,,i don't really like his sense of humor,,but this is the only one i like with him in it,,watch it,, you will see the different dan than you think..

  4. maybe i am being bias because I am from Chicago but this movie is a classic.  A must watch once or what not.  So yes rent it once and or watch it on TNT one night for free.

  5. what you got against Danny boy

and yes its a great movie

  6. Great movie! Funny as h**l and has one of the best soundtracks ever! It is probably the only movie of his I'll watch. There are so many other people in it and it's his best character by far. I must have watched it 200 times.

  7. My co workers and I were just talking about it today.  It is a funny classic that you could watch over and over again.

  8. Dan Aykroyd is AWESOMELY FUNNY in 'this' movie!!!!!!!!  I hear what you're saying though, as I believe Dan 'peaked' with this movie.  His movies after this he played characters that were just not that funny.  But he did lose a best friend and collaborator right after making this movie too.  Maybe losing John Belushi made him change so much he lost his 'funny' 'mojo'.  He was great in 'Nothing But Trouble' a few years later though, imho!  But yes, you should watch The Blues Brothers; not just for Dan but for a hundred other reasons!  Watch it!  NOW!  lol  ;P
