Is The Echo venue in Los Angeles really in that bad of an area?

I want to go to a show at the Echo and I was wondering if someone has any information about the venue and parking and safety (the website is not too helpful and I've got concerned parents). Thanks for any help!

i love it there because my cousin lives their and im cool with alot of people but if you dont know anyone there then you might want to park your car in a garage and dont walk on the streets at night

It's right smack in the middle of the barrio. Largely Latino population. Peeps with $$ coming in but not a safe neighborhood by anyone's standards. Park close to the venue and keeps your eyes open.

Please don't say I'm racist either, people! I'm Latino, too, and am just being honest!
