Question:

Is The Olympic Ideal Redundant?

At precisely the same time an oppressive communist regime with a despicable human rights record opened up the 29th olympiad one of the countries partaking launched a massive incursion into the territory of another participating country. I for one therefore believe that the original ideal behind the Olympics has been hijacked by oppressors and is now sadly redundant.

  1. Make it worse shambo shall I, in the original games of Greece the priests from Olympia would go to all the Greek states to tell them the games would be starting and that all fighting would stop. The only summers that there was not wars in ancient Greece were when the games were on. No one would dear go to war, not with the gods would look down on them and bring ruin to them. The only god for these games is sponsorship and it does not care about human lives, most of the sponsors of the modern Olympics have part ownership in arms companies as it is.

  2. its a laugh a minute in your head huh lol

  3. The Olympics?

    Do they still do that?

    Hmmmm....who knew?

  4. To have Ideals, you need humans who care about one another.

I sadly think many Ideals are redundant in our world...the Olympics just being one sign of this.

  5. yes you are right and we are supposed to support it in the name of sport. well i for one can only say **** off to the olympic ideal. it does not exist any more.

  6. The Olympic ideal has been dead for years. It went the first time a professional athlete took part. Its now nothing more than a political pantomime driven by money.

  7. No.

Not for the athletes taking part or me watching. It's political to politicians. I choose to celebrate a decent event conveying traits of humanity I admire cos there ain't much around.

I save my campaigning and 'make a difference' head for the cold light of day when no-one is watching.

  8. What was the original ideal? Peace, love and harmony? Lol. If you ever  believed in that ideology you're a sucker.
