Is The Seat Belt Tensioner Connected To The Airbag?

Question

I'm from the UK, and have a 1998 Ford Escort.

My car has gas seat belt tensioners, and I've just bought new seats which don't have them.

I was wondering if I install the new seats (without the gas seat bet tensioners) then does that affect whether the airbag still goes off or not?

Because the airbag light comes on when the gas seat belt tensioner isn't connected doesn't it?

Any information would be helpful!

Your airbags will not work without the system being complete and all parts being there

The seat belt/shoulder harness system and the air bags work in conjunction with each other.

An example of how this type of system functions for the driver is in the event of a non-severe impact, the driver airbag may not deploy if the driver is wearing their seatbelt. In a severe impact, regardless of seatbelt use, the airbag will typically deploy.

NO the seat belt tension-er is a separate  item  and works on its own.The  airbags work off sensores that are effected by the impact of the car striking somthing.

The seat belt tensioner may or may not be part of the circuit, I really don't know.  I'd contact Ford and ask that specifically.
