Question:

Is The Tudors appropiate for teenagers?

I am a (very wise, intelligent, and mature, not to brag) teenager very interested in Tudor history. I've heard the Showtime show The Tudors is good, and I'd like to watch it. However, my parents are reluctant to let me watch it due to the show's sexual contact and TV-MA rating. Do you think it would be okay if I just closed my eyes during the particularly racy scenes? I'd like answers from someone who's actually seen the show...thanks.

  1. The show is superb. It is as far as i can tell historically accurate but  should not be classed as pornographic rather "realistic" I am 55 years old and would not allow a young teenager to watch but any mid teen would not find too much in it they did not know already. I live in Ireland which can be a bit prudish at times but even though it is English history it has become a" must see "show over here. The machinations of the various characters gives a superb insite to the split with the Roman Catholic Church.  I would say go for it.

  2. The show is pretty racy in some parts. My mom said I could watch it (because she knows how much of a fan I am) because she knows how mature I am and how I can handle any thing that I might see. I just fast forward through the racy scenes. I think that since you are a mature too that it would be okay. Hope I helped! :)

  3. As a show meant for entertainment, it's not exactly chock-full of accurate history. If you want the real thing, read a book!

I I was your parent, I wouldn't let you watch it either.

  4. I'm 16 and started watching the tudors when i was 15, although i am quite mature for my age my parents have never really minded about me watching the show.

The sexual content of the show represents what life was like during that time period, so i believe that teenagers should be able to watch the show (13+)  I personally don't believe that the show has that many raunchy scenes, it has everything that makes a great show, s*x, drama and really fit actors,(Johnathan rhys myers)

  5. No offense, but if you're younger than, say.. 16, it's really not appropriate. I have seen a few scenes from different episodes, and it's extremely sexual.. it's rated TV-MA for a good reason, believe me.

  6. ii saw it when i was eleven also mature enough i thought that some parts are just part of the history and the sexual contact isnt long
