Question:

Is There A Law Against Fantasy Gambling?

What I'm looking for is an on-line gambling site that offers public fantasy leagues with a real money buy in, but I can't seem to find it. While some gambling sites do have fantasy leagues, like Bodog, they are only for "prizes".

What I'm looking for would be the same principle as poker tournaments. The site creates a public league with a $50 buy in for twelve people, Bodog takes a 5 percent rake, and the top three finishers split the pot.

Is there a law in the United States that specifically prohibits this, while allowing it for things like poker?

  1. Yes it's legal yahoo does it, so does cbs sportsline and espn. Bad thing is 12 people pay in money and they only pay out a small percentage. Basically they take about 70% of the pot if not more. Better off to do it with friends and handle the money part amongst yourselves.

  2. I don't think so but you can go to gsn.com their are some here.

  3. In the United States, any placing of real money on wagers for chance outcome is gambling and tightly regulated by law. Check with you state's gambling authority to find out what forms of wagering are covered, and see if your game type is even legal. It varies from state to state.

The following site about covers the legal on-line betting allowable in the United States:

    http://sports.bodoglife.com/
