  1. Possibly but there are less benifits to taking drugs in a sport like boxing that say in Athletics or weightlifting and sports like that. Drugs can make you strong and give you stammina and you will be able to take more punishment, but there are obvious dangers to doing this. Also no steroid can ever give you skill, timing, balance, ring savvy etc all things that are vital to making a complete fighter.

  2. For sure there is!  I read an article about 2 yrs. ago about Holyfield's weight lifting trainers wanting him to use HGH and a week cycle of steriods for the Tyson/Holyfield 2 fight. This because there were confirmed rumors that Tyson's camp had been pumpin him with a cocktail of steriods a month prior to their fight. Whether Evander took 'em who knows? Tyson has always denied this, but at least a dozen people came forward 2 yrs. ago and said he was juiced up.

  3. I am sure there is with club fighters and the like.

The big fights you see on cable and on PPV, those athletes are typically tested before or after, the bout.  Sometimes they are tested before and after.  There have been a half dozen or so suspensions handed out in recent memory.  James Toney was caught using drugs, as was Pernell Whitaker(in 98).  Evander Holyfield has been linked to HGH use.  Even one of 'The Contenders', Joey Gilbert, was caught using roids.  I think the amount of drug use at the top tiers of boxing is less than what it is in the lower tiers, but it is still prevalent.  Due to the apparent difficulty in detecting HGH, if boxers use any drug, this would be the drug of choice as it has been in other sports.  It will be interesting to see what, if any, the impact will be on boxing from the baseball drug scandals.

Sportsnetwork.com has a list of suspended boxers that is a mile long, but many of the suspensions are for medical reasons.  Drug suspensions should be on the list as well.
