  1. Look for an anti-icth soothing shampoo at a pet supply store.  Ingredients like oatmeal or awhapui (SP?)

  2. try to find something that has oatmeal stuff in it . Or of its hypoallergenic

  3. If it's an allergy there may be a medicine he could take. My dog itches a lot from dry skin. We bathe him with moisturizing shampoo and give him fish oil and vitamin E supplements. It helps.

  4. Shala is right - if your dog has allergies, frequent bathing will just make it worse - dries his skin even more.

You need to find out what his allergies are - could be to the food you feed, if it is supermarket junk it contains mostly corn meal, an irritant and not nutritious.

Try switching your dog to Canidae chicken and rice - two of my dogs have allergies and this food has eliminated them.

If it is a grass allergy, you can give him some Benadryl liquid, but you need to adjust the dose to his weight.

Start with eliminating the food allergies, but the Benadryl will help with the itching, might make your dog a bit sleepy, however.

  5. take him to the vet. they can give you a special cream.

  6. How do you know it's not flea dermatitis?

Is your dog on regular flea treatment?

  7. Oatmeal!

Also, you could check with the vet, but calamine lotion sometimes helps for people...

  8. You need to determine why he is itching. Food allergies, contact allergies, dry skin or even fleas (even if you don't think the dog may have them) can all cause a dog to scratch. Each of these reasons would be treated in a slightly different manner.

If your dog has food allergies and dry skin, you may want to change the diet to one that is less likely to cause a reaction and has a high level of Omega fatty acids.

If the pet has dry skin, bathing it can make the problem worse.

Sometimes fleas can be present even though you don't see them. A flea bath and treatment of the premises may be a good idea just in case.

  9. Sounds like an allergy.  You can give pupsBenedryl - ask your Vet how much!
