Question:

Is There a No Call List that Works?

I own a business that has been open for about 6 months and I think the person who had the telephone number before me is still using it. I get calls all the time for health care plans for the elderly and free dish satellite and lower mortgage payments...etc. Any suggestions of a no call list that works or a complaint I can file with the phone company.... Any thing would be helpful.

  1. have you considered that someone is giving your number out as a grudge against you?

The FTC's Do Not Call list would not work for you because someone is giving out the number and requesting information.

  2. It may be an option to just change your number.  Generally the phone company will do this for free if they recently gave you the number and its getting a lot of calls from the previous customer.

You said you were running a business, so I don't know how easy that would be for you, it all depends on how much advertising you've done, how many biz cards you've handed out, etc.

Have you added your number to the DNC list?  If so, then I'd get the name of the company calling, once you get that inform them your on the DNC, and I'd bet the call start clearing up.
