I doubt, bcaz online booking displays only available no of seats and ask for choice of berth.

Berth allocation is done on avilability of ur choice, which u can cross check only after the final booking.

so you can't see the available berth numbers

You can find the information at http://www.irctc.co.in/ also, but there, you need to register before you get any information. In any case it is for online booking and gives less options for general enquiry.

goto  trains between important pair of stations and select the reservation u want FROM and TO

then u see the list of trains with the Train No.

select the date, select the train number with radio button,

and goto check for availability.
