Is This A Good Sci-Fi Story???

Ok I have an idea for a sci-fi story. It takes place around thew year 2028 when computers and local technology are advanced. A hacker put in a virus that was made to crash all electronics, but it turns out to make every electronic devise go nuts and start turning into killing machines. The next part would be about 5 months later and we are then focusing on an 18 year old boy and a group of survivors living in the subway area (New York) and the boy boy and the group have to find how this all started and how to shut it down...and blah blah blah you get the point

I like the idea although it has a bit of a terminator/i am legend vibe.

if you can put your own spin on it, add some of your personality, and incorporate some nice twists, you can take it from cliched and make it a whole new animal
