Umpire Daryl Hair has announced his resignation from international cricket after not being given a test series & relegated to a series in Toronto between Canada,WI & Bermuda. Although he stood in two of the four match series between England & SA, he has not been given further tests. He has informed ICC he will now concentrate on being CE of the NSW umpires & scorers association. So who is going to join me in celebrating his resignation?

  1. Really good for Cricket. We are happy to see him out of test match or ODI umpiring. Muralitharan and Inzamam would be very happy too.

  2. It was always going to be difficult for Hair to make a comeback, given that he would be unable to stand in matches involving the Asian countries.

I am sure you will be glad of his new influential role. Perhaps we will see more umpires of his ilk in the near future. (There's a look of horror just come over your face!)

As for "celebrating his resignation": I have no personal animosity toward Hair, so I will merely wish him well for the future. He has made some mistakes, but he has been a good and loyal cricket official for many years, and doesn't deserve to be slandered.

  3. its a useless news

    neither good nor bad

    hope it helps

  4. Best news ive heard all week.I remember my dad calling him a cheat years ago, and that match was between England and Australia.

  5. yes, it is a good news because he has done some things on the field like a dictator which he couldn't substantiate with back up and faced the criticsm of people of being a racist. he repeated his mistakes and once mistakes are repeated , you are bound to call it a blunder, so i would say he has done lots of blunders and the last one was asking money from ICC for voluntery retirement after that Pak-Eng test match !

i however have to say a positive thing about Hair that he is a courageous and daring person !

wish him all the best !

    good bye to Mr. Hair!

    god bless!

  6. its nice to know the progress of mr Daryl Hair ,maybe he might write his biography ,and give some reasons of his for his umpiring decisions .which could be very interesting

maybe he could go on Indian celebrity big brother LOL!

that beside at least he can still carry on in some form of cricket

i feel sorry for him in a way

EDIT iv just saw some bad news about jade goodey so im going to delete that comment i made sorry about that :(

    .

  7. Well i'll speak on behalf of Murali and say good luck in the future. I know Hair was just doing his job, but he sure did make a beautiful scene of it, it couldv'e been handled a little better maybe. Murali now suffers from constant abuse in Australia and from fans around the world.

Following the then Australian Prime Minister John Howard's statement that Murali was a "chucker", in 2004, Muralitharan indicated that he would skip future tours to Australia. He returned only to be egged and verbally abused by a car-load of people. Tom Moody, the former Sri Lanka coach, said he was embarrassed by the derogatory reaction and negative attention directed towards Muttiah Muralitharan by Australian crowds.

So i have to say job well done Umpire Daryl Hair. You'll be remembered for a long time that's for sure.

  8. Its great that he's finally resigning. But we can never forget all of his controversies he caused in cricket. Daryll Hair, as pointed out by Oz, was just like a dictator on the field.

  9. Why bring him back in the first place then?

It says a lot about ICC politics if anything.  I have nothing personal against Darryl Hair; though given that he'd always be a "poisoned chalice", concerning Asian test playing nations, may be things have their own way of working themselves out; because the administrators don't seem to be able to work out any thing at all.
