Question:

Is This Narcissistic Personality Disorder?

I was involved with a man for five years who regularly emotionally abused me, was a pathological liar (and made up far-fetched stories to cover up) would lash out at me for no reason and call me horrible names and act like nothing happened a short time after. He also regularly flirted with women (even in front of me) - is this NPD?

  1. Could be.  Could be other things, like borderline.....definitly sounds like could be a personality dissorder though.  Only a Dr that was seeing him could say though.

Could also just be and abusive a**hole

  2. sounds like he has douchebag d!ckhead syndrome

  3. No, he just sounds like an ***! He might very well have another disorder but these issues alone does not imply that he's narcissistic.

  4. no its not narcissistic...narcissus was a mythological god who fell in love with his own reflection....you may be confusing your situation because of the description of A Boeotian hero whose archaic myth was a cautionary tale warning boys against being cruel to their lovers.....your "man" is a jackass who has no self-esteem and belittles you to make himself seem bigger....lose the loser

  5. It's not normal for someone to stay involved with someone like that for five years.

Both of my parents have NPD. I know exactly what you are talking about. I can't believe someone answered that this term is only from a myth!!! For goodness sake -- some people are just lucky not to come across bastartds like that.
