Is This Over-Feeding My Bearded Dragon?

*I Feed Him At Least 12 Black Crickets Per Day, Plus A Bowl Of Veg Which He Usually Doesn't Eat.

*My Beardie Is About A Year And A Half Old.

How Many Locust Should I Feed My Beardie, Because I'm Changing From Crickets To Locusts.

the reason why your beardie isn't eating his veggies is cause your feeding him way to much crickets.

my beardie is the same age and i have the special diet that i got him at petco and he will only eat so much that i give him.

and i only feed him every other day cause if i fed him everyday he could gain to much weight.

plus crickets are to be fed to bearded dragons as treats because of the crickets hard shells will get stuck in the digestive system.

so i think you should start feeding him only veggies to get the vitamins and minerals he needs.

You are definately not over feeding him.  You may be under feeding him.

A dragon that age should be eating mostly veggies. Babies are the ones that need crickets everyday...up to 8 months old I believe. My beardie (only a month old) has a fresh salad in his tank everyday and I feed him about 6-12 crickets a day (or as many as he'll take), but he's a baby so he needs all that, but once he hits about 8-9 months, I'll be feeding him crickets 3 times a week only. This is just me though, every beardie parent is different. =)

Maybe 1 or 2 locusts but as an adult he's suppose to eat more veggies and fruit as this is where his water comes in especially if he doesn't drink from a bowl. No your not over feeding him that's about right. Remember 1 or 2 locusts and a bowl of veggies. Try keeping the bowl of veggies in the enclosure as he might nip at them during the day and might end up eating the whole bowl. Don't get confused with locust and lubbers as lubbers these are poisonous.

Bearded Dragons need 80% crickets a day and 20% vegies.....you need to feed him the brown crickets from pet stores not black ones or locust! He needs feeder crickets, wax worms, and meal worms, and veggies.
