Is This Real??

Has anyone ever heard of the International Lottery Commission? I got a letter from Canada (British Columbia) saying I won money, and also included was a check for $2,800. When I called the number the first time, they picked up very informally just saying, 'hello' like anyone would when they pick up their phone. An hour later I called again, (bcuz the man from before said to call in an hour because the "system was down" and when I did, I asked if there was an attorney (bcuz the number is supposed to be a legal representative) and he just laughed at me and hung up on me.

Could this be a scam??

  1. It's a scam. Don't send them any money. Don't spend the "money" they sent you. Report it to your local police department.

  2. I would say you should report the phone number to someone or find out where this number is coming from. Because if they ramdomly give you money then that's pretty weird... I reccomend you call one more time to find out and then if they just do the same thing.. report it!

Also try looking "International Lottery Commission" on google, to see if it really exists...

DO NOT SPEND THE MONEY THEY GAVE YOU.. IT MIGHT BE A SCAM.. SO FIND HELP AND DON'T WORRY OK?

Do you remember winning anything in Canada!?

  3. u should see the attority or check their phone number on the web, or see your bank

  4. This is a SCAM. The below links confirm various email scams hitting the internet, including the famous Yahoo/MSN lottery scams and how to report them :

Unscrupulous thieves have sent you this email and they are trying to part you from your hard earned cash. They will often ask you to call a premium rate number and keep you holding on whilst you rack up a huge phone bill. They are then paid a large proportion of this phone bill. They may ask you to divulge personal information about yourself or ask for your bank or credit card details. Do not divulge any such information under any circumstances. It is surprising how many innocent victims have been duped by these types of emails. Just remember the thieves who send them are very clever and extremely convincing. I suggest you delete the email and send it into cyberspace, hopefully along with the thieving scumbags who send them.

  6. it could be my mom got scamed like that once and she called back and it was just some regular guy and definitaly cheak you bank and make sure nobody scamed you!

  7. Yes it is a scam.

The only way to play the BC lottery is to visit a store in Canada that sells BC lottery tickets and purchase one.

They don't send out random money to random people who didn't even pay to play.

If you cash the check it will give them information about your bank account, and it will bounce causing you to be charged by your bank.
