  1. Absolutely not. Sometimes when others see us doing something "different" it seems weird to them, but it is just different. Have no worries! You are not weird.

  2. No, it isn't. It isn't even that uncommon; I meet people all the time (I am a college instructor) who have been homeschooled. I think that if you still have opportunities to socialize and spend quality time with friends, and maybe even participate in the dances at your local highschool, then it can be a great experience.

  3. No, but you would miss out on Prom and all the  other fun stuff.

  4. i dont think its weird...im trying to get homeschooled myself =]

  5. If by weird, you mean strange or unusual, it is a bit because fewer people do it. If by weird you mean that you will be an outcast - absolutely NOT! It is my experience that homeschoolers are a cohesive, friendly, social group. There are so many homeschoolers these days that it is not at all as rare as it was 20 years ago.

  6. Not at all.

    Dare to be different! :)

  7. No but it kinda sucks, you really lose a huge social factor that way.

  8. Why would it be?

Homeschooling means that you and your parents have the final say over your education - what you learn, when, from whom, and in what environment.  It means that you can choose your curriculum, your method of learning, your projects, and your extracurricular activities so that they fit your needs, not those of the class at large.

It means that you can choose your co op and concurrent enrollment classes, your clubs and activities, and your downtime to suit your needs, not just to go along with what's offered.

I think it's the furthest thing from wierd...but then again, maybe I'm just wierd!  :-)

  9. No, hun. I'm homeschooled and have a normal life. Homeschooling shouldn't be considered "weird". It's just a different way of getting an education! It's not like we praise chocolate or something weird like that. We have books, schoolwork, essays, questions, answers, and EVERYTHING else a normal school student has. Some homeschooled people will give homeschoolers a bad name though. These people are the type that don't say "stupid" because God doesn't like it. These people also are ALL about staying inside and doing schoolwork all day. See, this isn't what I do. I do my schoolwork, then I can hang out with my friends. So to answer your question, no, homeschooling isn't weird.

  10. Depends on your definition of weird.

If, by weird, you mean that it's different from what most people do, then yes, it is weird.

If, by weird, you mean that there's something inherently wrong with it, no, it's not weird.

  11. of course not, because most of the time school is just a waste of time. so its cool

  12. It can be to outsiders, not to homeschoolers.

Homeschooling has a long way to become acceptable to the masses, but it's winning points every day and the current homeschooled Spelling Bee champ is one of those scoring points, along with University studies that show homeschoolers outperform Private and Parochial schollers by a slim margine and Public Schoolers by a healthy margin.

The fact many homeschoolers are getting into college at 17 or even 16 is upsetting a lot of people.

The fact that homeschoolers as displacing a few PRivate and Public schoolers in Ivy Leauge Universities is upsetting a lot of people.

The fact the "distance" college education is now becoming a true accredited reality with REAL colleges offering on-line courses is very upsetting to a lot of people.

The fact that someone might get a BA degree from a REAL state College at age 20 without setting foot on a school campus their entire life is going to stick in a lot of peoples craw.

  13. nope! i really want to be home schooled too! too bad my mom disallow.
