Hi,

My family is hoping to move somewhere in the next two years from the bum of a town we live in at the moment.

We are planning on buying some land and building a house on it.

We believe we have found a good home (kit home).

It costs $200,000 and is a little over-budget, but we are hoping we will work something out financially.

The link is here:

So can you please take a look at it and let me know what you think, whether it would be a good house or not etc etc?

My family consists of a mother, two teenaged boys, and a 12 year-old girl. We might also possibly be having a grandparent living with us, which would make the resident's number 5.

We would also need a bit of room on occassions for visitors and guests to sleep etc.

Also, is there anything else in advice that you can give me. Examples would be such as would it be best to buy a pool, do we want an outdoor entertaining area with BBQ pit etc, how about an area for the kids to play sports games.

Anything else that you feel would be relevant to mention in this situation would be helpful also.

Regards,

Ethan

  1. As the first post said, it is a dream but if you cannot afford it or will struggle then it is not worth the risk.

  2. Wow. nice house. Yes it does seem like a dream home. Make sure you can afford it. Dream homes can turn into nightmare homes if you plunge yourself into bankruptcy. If its over budget now then it will be even worse than it looks on paper when you have to actually pay the bills. Also think about the upkeep and utilities for a home that size. Good luck.

  3. If we could get that in the UK for £100,000 we'd be laughing.  Equivalent in anywhere where you can work etc as well would be at least 7 times that!

Looks lovely  - go for it

  4. Looks like a great home, nice layout. If you budget is already under 200, how will you be able to afford the house and the land?

If you can afford it comfortably, it's a great house. If not, look for something smaller. You may end up with a lot of wasted space in that house anyway.
