I have an AMD computer that has 512MB of DDR333 RAM. According to CPUZ, it's PC2700.
I bought some RAM today for it:
Hynix
PC2700 512MB DDR 333MHz
I have tried to install this chip now 4 times, in the second slot, alongside the original chip. And I've also tried it with the positions reversed; and I have tried this darn chip in every slot.
Each time I try to boot with the new RAM installed, the computer makes the error sound for RAM problem. I don't even get a POST screen.
Every time I take it out, it starts fine, just using the old chip by itself.
Can anyone help me? Is this new RAM faulty? Or is it simply the wrong kind? How can I tell?
Thank you very much to whoever helps me. I'm in some dire straits about this.
