Is Tivo really that popular in the US?

Question

Promos are being used by the Australian promoter, to promote Tivo's introduction in Australia, say that it is currently THE THING in the US. Is their any truth in that, or is it just yet more sales hype?

I like my tivo hd. I did put 750 gig drive in it:) tivo hd will have youtube very soon. I didnt like the dvr from that cable company.

I guess not as popular as it used to be back when it first came out.  Most of the cable carriers we have here now also carries that feature where you can record your shows just like TiVo. That's probably why its not as popular as it used to be.

In the US many people call any DVR a Tivo.  DVRs are EXTREMELY popular.  All Tivo are DVRs; most DVRs are not Tivos.   Tivo has far and away the easiest menus, best functionality, and are the most flexible.  My wife didn't let me get one for 2 years but when I snuck it in the house, within a month she LITERALLY said "I love the Tivo... I don't know how we would get along without it."  I was very happy I bought it lifetime, so as long as the hardware lasts & Tivo is in business I get its services at no further cost, unlike the DVRs provided by cable or satelite services.

I LOVE mine! Some jacka** is always talking during the punchline if something....rewind, or I miss the office all the time....series record, or wait did that guy just do that.....rewind, oh no I took too long peeing......yep rewind, oh I taped my good eats and this commercial sucks.....fast forward.....oh my god who just got shot I can't wait 120 seconds....FAST FORWARD! I Will never live without it.
