Question:

Is Tom Brady worth the first pick in fantasy football?

Ok, I have the first pick this year in my fantasy football league and I am torn between LT and Tom Brady. I used typical 2008 projections to run some hypothetical scoring. If LT ran for 1500 YDS, 16 rush TDs, 2 Rec. TDs and 400 Rec. YDS he would have a total of 175 pts and thats with every TD run under 20 YDS and if Brady threw for 4000 YDS, 30 TDs 50 rush YDS, 1 rush TD, 10 INT, he would have 150 Pts, and thats if every TD was between 5-9 YDS and no 300+ games. Brady outscored LT 135 PTS last year in our league. I dont expect Brady to come close to last years 50 TDs but 30 isnt that out of line or is 4000 YDS. What does everybody think?

  1. Dude, just stick with L.T.

  2. He's destined to not have as good a year as he did last year, but he's still a really strong bet. I'd take him with my first pick.

  3. The last quarterback to lead fantasy points in back to back years was Daunte Culpepper.  And he was throwing to Moss.  Why not take LT with your first pick and Brady (if available) with your second pick?

  4. The way I look at it is a QB is going to produce numbers for the most part no matter which one it is.  Brady, Romo, Manning are going to be your top 3 but the curve is not too far behind them.  A RB is a big piece because of how the NFL is going to a 2 RB system for the most part.  If you are able to get a LT or Larry Johnson, Steven Jackson, Addai its big.    Its better to have LT and Carson Palmer than Brady and M. Barber because Barber is likely to share carries.

  5. Running Backs like L.T or Adrian Peterson from Minnesota are worth #1 pick. Tom Brady goes round 2 etc.

  6. He will NEVER have those number again. Although if your league gives 1 point per 10 passing yards it would be a smart choice. But if its the standard 1 point per 20 passing yard and 1 point per 10 rushing yards definitely wouldn't do it. AP, Westbrook, and LT are all better choices.

  7. NOOOOOOOOOOO! Pick LT or you will waste ur first pick

  8. Pick LT

  9. The earliest I'd take Brady is 6th.  LT is the best choice for the #1 pick (as in Ladanian Tomlinson, not Lawrence Tynes btw).

  10. LTLTLTLTLTLLTLTLTLTLTLTLTLT!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  11. The league has changed the scoring has changed.  Its no longer a RB world when QB'S throw for 40+ td's which is what he will do.  If you can move down to the 3rd spot and get something for it do it!  But if you cant you may consider picking Brady cause he is going to score you points because after him can you really trust a qb to win you a championship.  Peyton will be comming off an injury.  Brees took 5 weeks to get going and Palmer took the last 5 weeks off as he usually does too.

    I'm drafting BRADY!

  12. NO Way Ladanian Tomlinson is a better first pick.

  13. Picking tom brady first would be a mistake.  If you think he will duplicate last years stats, you're out of your mind.

You know what LT will give you.  Last years stats for LT is the minimum you will get from him.  Imagine if he goes off this season like 06.

    LT #1

  14. No no no LT all the way, you shouldn't even be thinking about this one.
