Is Tropic Thunder's story line similar to Galaxy Quest?

I haven't seen TT yet but from the previews it looks like a bunch of actors get mistaken (or caught up in) the roles they play. A similar story line was utilized in Galaxy Quest where a bunch of actors from a "Star Trek" like TV show/movie are mistaken for actual interstellar heroes.

If so. How come no parallels have been drawn by the critics?

Besides the similiarity where they are actors and initially oblivious that they are in a reality, the story lines are completly different.  I would point out that Tropic Thunder got a R rating, but some of their jokes are very hilarious due to the graphic nature.

Tropic Thunder also makes a spoof on war movies.

No , they are playing these roles, but don't know they aren't in a movie anymore. they just think so , but the director gets annoyed with them and dumps them in a real war zone where drug dealers get them. they think the script has changed , but go with it thinking it will be the greatest movie ever made. sorry about any spoilers. BTW Robert Downey Junior deserves an oscar nomination for this one.
