Is Tulum and Xel Ha a lot of walking?

Can I wear sandals or you recommend tennis shoes?

  1. supportive footwear is always best at these areas. I find that I can truck around all day AND night if I wear them as opposed to loose sandals. Sandals are best for lounging around or a casual stroll, which these places are not.


  2. Tulum is a pretty small archaeological site--you can see all the buildings in less than an hour, and then go to the beach below El Castillo for a splash in the caribbean.  At Xel-ha, your longest walk is from the parking lot.  So sandals would be fine.  But if you go to Coba and Xcaret, you'll walk more and tennis shoes might be better.
