We are exultant this week with the Kosovo "freedom" recognition but looking the other way as thousands of Turkish troops cross the border into sovereign Iraq. . .Is there some sort of collective trance state going on? ? ?

  1. Yes.  Turkey says it is hunting terrorists.  That's what Serbia was doing when it was arresting KLA terrorists.  Serbia got bombed by the Clinton administration, yet Bush gives the green light to Turkey to pursue terrorists in Iraq. The US has a double standard.  That's why the world deplores the US government.

  2. You must remember that the US gave Saddam the WMD to use against the Kurds, then stopped before toppling him but encouraged the Kurds and the Marsh Arabs to rise and said they would move to support them.  Instead they watched while Saddam slaughtered them then used his actions against them as an excuse for invasion at a later date.

No trance state.  Just totally immoral, illegal, and cynical business as usual for the self-declared international outlaw - the US.

Self-declared international outlaw?  Well you refuse to recognise the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice or the International Criminal Court.  Check it out.

  3. Do you think that Bush has the moral authority to tell Turkey that it is wrong to invade Iraq?  What harm can the Turks possibly do?  They are just hunting terrorists.  Turkey used the same terms 90 years ago to justify the Armenian genocide.

  4. Although Turkey's actions may cause some problems, it's important to remember that they are going after active terrorists, not the average Kurd.
