Is Twilight against God?

I just started reading the book, Twilight, and I really like it. The problem is, I'm a christian, and I don't want to read it if it is against God. I'm not sure if it is or not, since i have not read very far in to the book, so i'm wondering if this book is okay to read or if it contains something that God doesn't like. A lot of my christian friends read this, but I'm still not sure. Should I continue reading this book or not?

  1. It's about as much against God as Cinderella, Pocahontas, and Lion King were. It depends on what you view as against God. All the above Disney movies had something that could be considered "anti-Christian" by those super religious types. I personally never considered it as being against God. It's not a religious book, it's just a romantic fantasy story. I figure if it's okay to read about fairy godmothers, talking trees, and lions in the sky it's okay to read about vampires and werewolves. (:

The only thing that might make you uncomfortable is there's a few brief discussions about whether a vampire has lots his/her soul by gaining immortality. But that's really something that's brushed aside in the novel because it is essentially just a romance story.

  2. no. its not, actually its very pro god. :)

  3. no , it's not against God .... if you are fond of the book , you should continue reading it ;]

    xx

  4. I wouldn't say it does, but I'm not the type of Christian who's afraid to keep reading a book I enjoy because it might go against God, either.

I would suggest you keep reading and make up your own mind about the book. If you decide it's against God, then stop reading. If you decide it isn't, keep reading. No book on the planet can make you stop being Christian, but thinking about why or why not you feel the book might go against God will help you define what your faith means to you, and how your faith calls on you to behave. This is a GOOD thing. Faith needs to be examined in order to remain strong.

  5. im catholic and HOLLLD UPPPPP!

im totalally 100% "pray, go to church, belive in god, and dont brake sins"

but this book is awesome and i dont think its against god just cuz they talk about vampires.

  6. Even if you are christian it should be fine if you read it. It doesn't talk about going against god or anything like that. It's just a book, though, so you should be fine. Twilight is an amazing novel!

  7. The book is definitely not against God. Stephenie Meyer, the author, is actually quite religious herself. She may not preach her beliefs in the books, but they do not go against Christianity.

  8. I am also christian, and i know a lot of people who are and still read the book. These are good vampires who follow the rules and don't suck humans blood, but animals instead. They are like heroes, not villains. These vampires have crosses in there house and are good people. Carlise, edwards father, father was a preacher or something and carlisle believes that he still has a chance at heaven because they try so hard to be good

  9. Who cares? Reading a book thats against God isn't going to make you any less Christian. But to answer your question, it doesn't go against God

  10. no way.

  11. Noo, twilight isnt against god!
