  1. Cancun is so americanized that everything is around the same prices at in the US. Most please will accept US bills too.

  2. You actually save some money if you use pesos. Everyone in the hotel zone (where you will most likely be) will take dollars, because most of those people are americans. However, you can also use pesos.

Also, keep in mind it is basically like being at any US resort city. It will be very expensive, but not Miami or Vegas expensive.

  3. It ain't any cheaper!  Cancun and Cabo San Lucas most expensive cities to visit in Mexico.

  4. First of all, some fast facts. 1 US dollar equals approximately 10 Mexican pesos. Therefore it something is $100 US dollars, multiply by 10 equals 1000 Mexican pesos. If something is for example 500 Mexican pesos, divide by 10 which equals $50 US dollars. Gone are the days when the peso was practically worthless in which you got about 3000-5000 Mexican pesos for the one US dollar. Now it is more simple since 1994.

In regards to Cancun, the fight between keeping Cancun Mexican vs the tourists has been won by the American tourists for now.

Now you can go to the resorts in Cancun, speak English, spend US dollars, get all the comforts of home and more just like most resorts throughout the US.

So the moral of the story is that you will practically pay the same Americanized prices in Cancun for most thinks just like the US.

However, just like any other place, some items are up or down depending on where the product is made also.

In short, going to a resort like Cancun, expect to pay high prices or resort prices for that matter.

However, for some savings, you might want to head into Ciudad Cancun, which caters to Mexicans as well as tourists, in which you can use both US and Mexican currencies.

Oh yes, one word of caution, in Cancun in general, if you pay in US dollars, expect to get change in Mexican pesos.

    Good luck.
