Do you mean those pop-ups that tell you you might have won a car as you are on the internet at a certain time?

I haven't replied to them myself, as I believe you 'don't get owt for nowt'. and they are possibly some kind of scam/virus thing.

Maybe I'm too cynical!

No, it's a spammer sending out emails telling people that they have won a prize.  In order to claim the prize, you have to give them your bank account details and they will steal all your money.
