In a latest broadcast of BBC the minister for equality and women is lobbying for a law that provides for selection of women and minorities even if the man is equal or more than equal in terms of merit.

How can we even think about gender equality if this is the approach for future?

India is a backward country home to ruthless and amoral politicians like Renuka Chowdhary but england is an educated civillized western country So how in god;'s name can they even think about implementing such a gender biased and discriminatory law against the male gender?

How dare the feminists now talk about equality?

  1. I loathe this idea.  People of ALL kinds who worked hard to achieve their goals should be able to earn top positions, not be given things because of idiotic "quota" laws.

This is NO different than ignoring a qualified candidate to hire a white male.  This solves nothing and will only bring society FURTHER from equality, IMO.

  2. Things will swing back eventually. The most highly intelligent, ambitious, and creative among us will always tend to be men. We have more of the talent on our side, and eventually this will win over the irrational, hate-inspired, schizophrenic movement we now call "feminism".

  3. Let me say this from a more productive point of view, as economics can put things into perspective.

As the UK is competing against other nations, the success of UK as an economy will depend of positively utilising the resources available to it. It is a fact, as noted by prominent shcolars such as Tyson and others, a Corporate Governance contributor suggested that UK Boards be comprised of ethnically diverse people, as this would enhance perception of risk and decision making.

As there are only 15% of the UK population that are not white, those places and regions that have a significant number of ethnic minorities should employ such people or increase their "pool" of races, simply to enhance productivity and competitiveness.

It's only 15%. The ultimate benefits are far reaching.

I think those affected by this, the white male in particular, should either be the best, or consider moving out to a more accommodating context.

  4. Feminists stopped being about equality a few decades ago, hoss...

Affirmative action is nothing new. It's just women's way of becoming 'equal' to men, because they are incapable of achieving it through merit or ability.

  5. I don't think you should blame the feminists, because this goes against everything feminists stand for. Feminists are those who campaign for equality for women, this makes me a feminist too.

However this is not equality and whoever is lobbying for this law must be so ignorant. I am a woman and I am offended by this. If i am not the best for the job then I should not be the one to get it, regardless of gender either way. All genders and races are equal, and so they should be treated equally, this law would be patronizing to minorities and discriminatory against white men.
