United Nations is supposed to be independent but it has more been considered as a puppet world government by the US as its major contributor.

the main sponsor to uno is usa , and no matter what uno decides usa gives a damm about it, uno has condemed american government for their wrong doings but who cares ?????

In principle UN is an independent Organisation but like all democratic organisation votes are controlled by powerful countries, specially in the security council as well as council on economic and social affairs as most of the time developing or low income countries look forward for smaller help to the rich nations.

Although as per UN charter UNO is an independent organisation but a major part of it's budget is funded by USA, further election of it's Secretary General, selection of temporary member  of UN Security council is also influenced by desire of USA Govt. As such it can not be said to be an Independent Organisation.

It swings.... Even if today it is an arm of capitalism, we must preserve it because it is the one institution that facilitates international dialog and therefore it is the best safeguard against future Hitlers, Bushes and Mussolinis.
