Is USA EMBASSY CORRUPT? Why doesn't State Dept do something?

Embassies, Western countries Embassies, in the third world, in particular in Africa, are very corrupt and sell visas for exhorbitant prices (be it tourist or immigrant visa). I know families who sold their property to bribe visa officers anticipating their son/girl will go there, make money and reimburse in two or three fold what is spent for him/her. This is a clear case of moral decadence. Consular Officers (including the chieves) of American Embassies are no exception. I have evidence, can organize the victims of such outrageous broad day light robbery if I have my way to take such cases to the appropriate authorities. The problem is the State Department is adamant and very defensive. They have stupid excuses like Africans are poor, they have no money to give bribe. This is not only simply simplistic and weak argument, but also full of sophistry and inexplainable arrogance. I personally tried to contact the state department. They refused even to reply to me. they get their shares?!!

  1. are you sure they're selling visas? coz visas are not free. you would need to pay for the processing fees. tourist visas are $131... immigrant visas should be about $1000 more or less. it's a big amount... and for 3rd world countries, it's an exorbitant amount.

but just because you applied for the visa and paid the fees doesn't mean you'll get the visa. there are no guarantees even if you have all the requirements. it's still in their discretion whether to give the visa or not.... and it's the risk people take when they apply for a visa and paid the fees.

if you think you have a clear case, then go ahead and sue them... or complain to them. they won't be able to get back to you immediately coz i'm sure there are lots of complaints they need to take care of.

edit: the state department is such a huge department. they do not only worry about overseas stuff. you haven't received a reply simply because yours is just one of the thousands of complaints/communication they've received from people all over the world.

what do you want to get out of this? i understand you want things to be the way it should be... but it doesn't always happen that way. instead of focusing your efforts about the US embassy, why don't you focus your energy into doing something for your own country? and since you mentioned africa... you can do tons of things like medical relief efforts or digging up wells for clean water and stuff like that. you'd actually help a lot of people that way instead.

  2. Your story sounds like a fabrication to me. While it is possible to have a dishonest person working at an Embassy, the person giving the interview is typically either the Consular General or one of their assistants, not some corrupt African local. When you use words such as "sell" the visa, you are implying that they are granting visas based on bribes, well you actually come out and say so.

It would not seem believable, other than to those who wish to believe everything bad about the U.S., that this would be any kind of common practice. I'm sure that if you have proof that someone would listen, sounds to me like you have nothing but hot air there.

People often judge things by their own culture, and the culture in Africa is full of bribery, this doesn't mean that because it's common there, that it's common with all.
