Question:

Is USA Today insane? They have strongly insulted the nation of Peru as 'unlivable' and Lima as a pit.

"The 2006 ... Senior High graduate and her parents now live in her grandmother's house in Lima, Peru..."

I guess if I had to live with my own family in the nation of my birth and of my parents' upbringing, it'd be worse than a firing squad. Get real.

Does USA Today owe that entire nation an apology?

  1. Good article.  Thank God this DREAM Act is dead.  It would have just encouraged more illegal immigration.

  2. USA today is a newspaper. They are in the business of selling copy.If someone in Peru does not like what it says, why not sue USA today. Of course to be successful, they would have to prove that Lima is not a pit. and that its not unliveable. That would be impossible because it is a matter of personal taste. If someone thinks Lima is a pit by his standards, it is.For someone else it might not be. One man's pit is another man's paradise.I consider my home city to be a dump, and so do many others, but then there are probably a lot more that think its great. I am neither proud nor not proud of my country. I had no choice as to where I was born, and  I don't give a d**n about that, but I HAVE been to Peru, and am glad I was not born there, especially in Lima. It is dirty, and I like clean. As for insulting Peru, who cares. Most people in the world, even if they have  heard of Peru, which many will not, have no idea where it is and could not care less.Politicians and papers are full of insults and criticisms of people and places all over the country and all over the world and it does not bother most. People who don't like what USA Today prints should just not read it. I don't.In fact I don'y buy ANY newspapers. They are all full of rubbish

  3. Well in this country at least, we have freedom of speech. If USA Today has to apologize that then there are a lot of publications that need to apologize to our president right now.

  4. Well, maybe when we give them all what they deserve for breaking our laws and deporting them, they'll appreciate the opportunity to be allowed in our country and appreciate the American way of life, and they can spread sentiment around so that the next batch of legal immigrants will have appreciation and will assimilate to our way of life because it's how they want to live instead of like in their former country.  And maybe the next batch won't be out in our streets insulting Americans everywhere in Spanish and acting like they own the place.  Good for ICE for finally doing their jobs.  And Senator Durbin needs to stay out of it and realize who elected him, Americans -- legal Americans.

  5. I couldn't find the words "unlivable" or "pit' anywhere in the article; so I don't think the paper has anything to answer for.
