Is University of Melbourne a good place to study?

Question

Considering doing a graduate degree there next year, and I've tons of family on Australia. Anyone know if the University of Melbourne is any good?

Yes it is good- it is probably the most prestigious in Victoria. It depends on the area of study you are interested in though.

Australian National University in Canberra is the highest ranking university in Australia, followed by the University of Melbourne- so it is right up there.

Monash university and La Trobe university are also good universities in Melbourne.

I wouldn't really listen to Maree- yes Canberra has an excellent university and a lot of people go there, but lots of people from Canberra also choose to study in Melbourne.

Hello. I have had friends that lived in Melbourne and they moved to Canberra to go to uni as it is a better uni. It just depends i guess to what you want to do but alot of people from Melbourne are going to Canberra so i guess that says alot for Uni in Melbourne. Good luck and have a look at Canberra as well as that might be better. Take care.

The University of Melbourne is an excellent university with a very good reputation. The ANU in Canberra is the highest ranking uni in Australia and Melbourne is next and not very far behind. Melbourne degrees are very highly rated and the teaching is very good as are the facilities, the campus and student services. I did my first degree there and loved it (though that was a long time ago). Two of my nephews have recently finished there (Physio and Engineering) and they tell me it's just as good as ever and that they'll both return there for their graduate degrees.
