I'm looking into getting a wireless router off eBay, but I'm confused as to which type to get. We have Virgin as our provider. ADSL or LAN or whatever? lol! Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks =)

  1. Virgin media is cable not DSL like BT or talktalk and they use cable Modem. You can use the one on the ebay or any other router but you have to connect the router to the modem that they provided to you, then use the router as a wireless or wired connection.

    Simple or need help?

  2. They are DSL as LAN stands for Local Area Network and is something you setup as a small network in your house and whatnot. DSL is Digital Subscriber Line which is what Virgin offers. The router you are looking at would not be suitable as it opperates on 802.11n protocol only and most wireless devices only use 802.11g and 802.11b. See if Virgin will offer you a router but I suggest a Linksys as most of them have 802.11b and g protocols.
