Is Vivian a weird name for a guy?

Some people laugh when they here of guys named Vivian, but I actually know 2 guys with that name and I think its a nice name. I know it's a unisex name, which is just more commonly a girl's name, but is Vivian a weird name for a guy?

I know of a guy called Vivian, but personally I couldn't never humiliate my own flesh and blood like that.

I really don't like the name for either a girl or boy and can just imagine the teasing.  It makes me think of a boy whose a bit of a pansy

I actually really thought about this before I answered. Im afraid I also have to go with "yes" its a little weird for a guy. Im all about guy names for girls (joey, stevie, etc) But on the flip side, i dont know how this name works for a guy. Vivian sounds like a classy, intelligent woman... not so much man's man. Whether he's strong and tough or artsy and metro, either way it doesnt really work (in my opinion)

I'd suggest a spin on it Vivian for a guy like "Vian". Now that I kind of like for a guy. Its different, sort of like "Ian" but not.

There are lots of names out there that were originally male names that are now used for girls. Here is an example:

John Wayne- real name Marion Morrison.

I don't think anyone would make fun of him. So no I do not think Vivian is a weird name for a man.

Yes, I supposed to guy could have that name just a girl could have the name of Carter, which is supposed to be a guy's name, so yes, I believe if the parents wanted to name their son this special name, who is to say they are wrong? Not me!

Eh. I wouldn't name a boy Vivian, but that's just me. I guess people could call him Vivi (yea I'm aware it's from Final Fantasy IX  >____<) or Viv or something. They sound more unisexy. -shrugs-

In my opinion it's a girls name. But it fits well if you live in a European nation. It's really all about culture, because I had an uncle named Julien.

I would always think of it as a girl's name.  I would not laugh or make fun of a guy with that name because it's not a person's choice what they're name is, but I would NEVER name a boy that myself.

Personally I think its a little odd and cant say I know any males with the name.

But if the parents both like it, its really up to them isnt it.
