I'm 17. I really want to sell cars, new cars, for a living. I have had a passion for Vw's since...forever. But, are they good to work for? Or, would a American based Auto maker be a better career choice, in the selling Department? I'm looking at Parr Vw / Hyundai and Haselwood GMC/PONTIAC/BUCIK.

What's your opinion? They all require 18 years of age for employment, so...I have a while.

  1. If that is what you want to do, you will be successful.  There will be a lot of people trying to discourage you but there is always room for good people, so good luck to you..................

  2. Dealerships are independently operated, so the experience probably varies from dealer to dealer.

Car salespersons seem to have a lot of mobility in their career (my ex-uncle was one) so if I were you I would apply to all the dealers and see which one worked out the best in the interviews. In the long run, you will want cars that sell more easily, which means stay away from American cars until the car companies start making cars that people want to buy.

You will have to work weekends, and as the new guy they might stick you with the crappy customers (people like me, who aren't planning on buying a car the moment I walk onto the property).

  3. It really depends on the dealership.  Good Luck trying to sell a car these days.
