I was just wondering =)

Also, Are they ever planning to stop the mission or is it going to travel for many decades to come?

Thanks x

  1. The mission will go on for a while, it will end either by depletion of the electrical power generators or by critical components failing. The last possible year for Voyager will be 2025 - past that time, the power generators will produce not enough power for preventing the spacecraft from freezing.

You will love this site on Voyager.  I am a fan too.  It will go on as long as it can.  Enjoy.

  3. Both Voyagers are still continuing to transmit back to Earth.

The Voyagers will continue to travel for ever. You can't stop them. But they will eventually run out of batteries and be too far from the sun to recharge them. They then won't be able to communicate with us any more.

  4. Try looking at NASA's site on the Voyager.  They keep up-to-date information on all their missions.  There is a list in alphabetical order.

    Here's the Voyager site:

EDIT: Looking at the below answers, it is true that it will eventually "die," and become out of range.

  5. yep, i agree wth the others, but i should just add that once it goes too far it will be unable to effectively broadcast information back to earth.
