  1. WiFi and WLAN are basically the same thing.

Historically, WLAN used a number of different technologies, of which WiFi was only one, but nowadays WiFi is the industry standard for WLAN, so the terms are interchangeable.

Basically, by entering the correct WPA key on your phone you'll be able to connect it to your home wireless network.

  2. NO it isn't. It's logical. Why would it had something to do when it doesn't has the same name :P

  3. Wi-Fi is the trade name for the popular wireless technology used in home networks, mobile phones, video games and more. In particular, it covers the various IEEE 802.11 technologies (including 802.11n, 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11a).

WLAN is a wireless local area network, which is the linking of two or more computers or devices without using wires.

  4. Wi-Fi is a common term for Wireless Networks using the IEEE 802. protocol they.  it can be a base station based system or  just 2 computers together.

Wi-Fi  has various speeds a,b,g,n  meaning 2,11,54 or 200 Mbs. the 'n' speed is still being refined so many vary also NiMO is a term used on some fast networks to say it has extra capabilits with speed.

WEP, WPA and WPA are just password encryptions for the network WPA2 is the most secure but some devices many not support it and a few will only accept 40 bit WEP passwords (there is a 40 or 128 option on WEP).

If you have all devices that connect to WPA2 then use that as it gives greatest security.

however if you have many devices the network must be set at the LOWEST level of security of the devices you use.

WLAN is an abbreviation meaning Wireless Local Area Network and is a network of 2 or more machines and devices with or without a hub using the Wi-Fi protocol.

Apple use both Wi-Fi and Airport (their name for it) as they were the first computers to come with Wi-Fi ability in 1999.

TRY WPA2 then try all your devices it one doesnt connect downgrade to WPA and if that doesnt work try WPR (128) then WEP(40).

WPA comes in 2 flavours Enterprise or personal  but ignore them
